Worldwide performers Patricia
Schuman, soprano and Megan Sesma, harp, the Aralia
Duo have graced the stages of Carnegie Hall, Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, the Covent
Garden in London and the Salzburg Festival in Austria, to name a few. Residents of Essex and Madison, Schuman and Sesma are
the best of the shoreline.
A versatile performer in the mediums of orchestral and harp chamber music and as a
film session musician, Ms. Sesma is principal harpist of the United States Coast Guard Band and adjunct professor of harp
at the University of Connecticut and instructor of harp at Wesleyan University. She received her degrees from the Eastman
School of Music and New York University.
In addition to an international operatic career, Ms. Schuman has concertized
with orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Orchestre de Paris and the St.
Paul Chamber Orchestra. She can be heard on recording in Handel’s Messiah (Koch), Florencia en el Amazonas, Tancredi,
and Bertoni’s Veni Creator (Erato). She can be seen on DVD in the title role of L’incoronazione di Poppea by
Monteverdi.
Upcoming performances of the duo include the Russell House Recital Series at Wesleyan University, University
of Connecticut Faculty recital, a notable performance in Westerly, RI for the benefit of the Guatemala Harp Project and many
others.
The Aralia Duo is committed to performing all genres and especially collaborating with 21st century composers.
